Some N̶DA Projects

Scenes AR App
During my incredible two-year journey at Meta as a technical artist, I had the amazing opportunity to contribute to a range of captivating projects. One standout endeavor that I had the pleasure to be a part of was the creation of "Scenes," a remarkable standalone augmented reality app that allowed users to express their creativity. With this innovative app, individuals were empowered to transform their surroundings by adding captivating augmented 3D objects, available in various themes.

An important part of our work on "Scenes" was integrating cutting-edge depth estimation capabilities. By the use of LiDAR , we were able to create a truly immersive and realistic experience. This technical achievement opened up endless possibilities for users to seamlessly combine digital objects with their physical environment, creating a sense of magic and wonder.

Collaboration played a key role in this project, as we worked with a diverse group of five vendors to create an impressive collection of over 600 stunning 3D assets. As the main point of contact for technical assistance, I ensured smooth communication and efficient coordination, building strong working relationships with our vendor partners. Additionally, I took on the crucial responsibility of refining the design of these 3D objects on Meta Spark, aligning them perfectly with the dynamic artistic decisions that emerged throughout the development process.

One of the most rewarding aspects of being a technical artist on this ambitious project was the invaluable opportunity to collaborate closely with both engineers and designers. By acting as a bridge between these two creative forces, I facilitated a seamless exchange of ideas, feedback, and improvements. This harmonious collaboration played a vital role in ensuring that "Scenes" met and exceeded our expectations, as we continuously adapted and refined the app based on the valuable feedback we received during dogfooding sessions.

I am immensely proud to have been part of such a groundbreaking project. Working alongside a brilliant and diverse team of fellow technical artists, engineers, and designers, I witnessed firsthand the power of collaborative creativity. The knowledge and insights I gained during this experience have truly shaped me as a professional, reinforcing the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration, innovation, and attention to detail.

Connect ‘22

Another project that holds a special place in my heart is the following. Last year, I had the privilege of being part of a brilliant team that was chosen to work on several projects showcased at Meta's annual summit, Connect '22. Each technical artist collaborated closely with an engineer and a 3D artist to ensure a seamless workflow and meet the challenging two-week deadline. As a technical artist, my role came in the middle, after the 3D artist completed their work and before the software engineer took over. It was crucial to work swiftly while maintaining constant communication for accurate results. I was entrusted with two 3D assets. These creations, which I affectionately refer to as my "babies," were the endearing characters known as the "Stretch Coach" and the lovable, (but technically the most painful) "Friendbot."

Here's a snippet of Connect '22 that shows both my babies in action

Augments
I was actively involved in the development of Augments, an innovative Mixed Reality platform that brought us closer to seamlessly merging the physical and digital realms. Augments comprised applications and content strategically positioned within your real living space, easily accessible with a simple tap on the side of your Quest 3 headset.

I have engaged in diverse projects encompassing games, prototyping initiatives, and the enhancement of still 3D assets through rigging, integrating them into platforms such as Unity and Spark AR to introduce interactive elements. Additionally, I collaborated with Meta's Reality Lab accessibility team to contribute to the integration of accessibility features. This involved actively participating in the creation of accessibility sections in PRDs and developing comprehensive checklists to optimize the extensive resources at our disposal. This collaborative effort aimed to ensure that Meta's products not only meet high standards but also prioritize accessibility and inclusivity in their design and functionality.

Throughout my time at Meta, I've had an extraordinary experience. I had the opportunity to engage with and contribute to cutting-edge projects, and I've had the privilege of forming connections with influential figures in the industry, some of whom have become cherished friends.
